Only 50% of the respondents indicate that their organization is willing to apply the agile mindset outside the IT department. My belief is that an agile mindset is conditional in a VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex and Ambiguous) world. I find this result alarming. My conclusion is that there is still a lot of work to be done to guide non-IT departments with their transition to become more agile with an agile mindset.
During this session Henk Venema, ING bank, responsible for the implementation of the agile way of working at ING Wholesale banking, will present the ING case. Henk explains how the worlds of agile execution and programmatic working work together effectively at ING. These come together in a quarterly session (think of a big room planning), in which product owners and change professionals (program managers role) jointly look back and look ahead and determine priorities. Agile programmatic working therefore provides tools for larger organizations that want to be agile.
Program managers, called change professionals at ING, are responsible for cross-border, multi-tribe initiatives, such as MIFID. Because scrum offers no solutions for the complexity of a large bank, Henk went to ING to see how she could link umbrella programs to its management and implementation. Not Safe (Scaled Agile Framework) is the solution that ING chose, but Agile working programmatically. This combination of methodologies leads to increasing effectiveness among ING change professionals.
