♻️ Sustainability is daring to look differently
What choice will you make today? And do you dare to move along if necessary?
This page about sustainability is probably different than you expect. Here you will not find empty phrases about 'how well we are doing'. Because if you dares to look very honestly: sustainability always has several sides.
Things are not black or white. Sustainability is about make conscious choices. About doubting. Daring to ask yourself questions and challenge yourself.
That's why we at Lagant don't always agree with each other
Take for example how we view the cars we drive. Jeroen believes in green drivingIf it were up to him, we would all switch to electric cars. Orlando thinks differently about that. What will happen to the acid from all the batteries we can't get rid of? Orlando's solution: don't buy a new car at all. Now that's sustainable.
So what is sustainability anyway? At Lagant we think sustainability is about:
- To investigate something
- Engaging in discussion among each other
- To then make a conscious choice
That takes courage
That can be quite exciting sometimes. For example, we work with Tata Steel. Tata Steel is not exactly known for sustainability. But they want I would really like to make that transition. Then you can do 2 things:
❌ say: they are polluting, we do not cooperate with that
✅ say: they are polluting and they want to change, let's help! 🤩
At Lagant we consciously choose option 2. Because where can you do the most work? Exactly, where it is dark. Obvious? No. A typical Lagant example of lateral thinking? YES!

Sustainability does not mean that we know everything or 'do it very well'. But it does mean that we dare to doubt. That we think along with people who want change. And that we ask sharp questions; also to ourselves.
