The Obeya Fundamentals Training is the ideal starting point for anyone who wants to discover the power of the Obeya method. Obeya—Japanese for "large space"—is a way of working that brings together strategy, goals, and execution in a visual and structured way. It's much more than just a physical or digital space with boards and dashboards: it's a way to strengthen collaboration, increase agility, and accelerate decision-making.
In this training, you'll gain a thorough understanding of Obeya's underlying principles and core values. You'll learn how Obeya helps truly connect organizations: from directors and management to project teams and employees. By working visually and continuously sharing the right information, you create focus, transparency, and ownership. This enables you to adapt more quickly, prioritize more effectively, and take shared responsibility for results.
The training combines theory with practical exercises. You'll discover the role of the Obeya in realizing strategy, how to use it for portfolio management and project management, and the key conditions for success. You'll also learn how to set up and facilitate an Obeya, so it becomes more than just a collection of information: a place where genuine dialogue and decision-making take place.

Prior knowledge and study load
No specific prior education is required. The level of this training is comparable to a higher professional education (HBO) level.
Including the training day, you should take into account a study load of approximately 16 hours.

- Introduction to Obeya – origins, background, and relationship to Lean and Agile.
- The core principles of Obeya – transparency, alignment, focus, and rhythm.
- The role of the Obeya in strategy execution – connecting vision, goals, and execution.
- Information visualization – how to visualize strategy, progress, and obstacles.
- Obeya rhythm and meeting structure – effective meetings and decision-making.
- Roles and Responsibilities – Who does what in an Obeya and how do you facilitate collaboration?
- Obeya as an improvement culture – learning from data and dialogue for continuous improvement.
- Practical design – physical and digital Obeyas, examples and success factors.
- Hands-on exercises – experience for yourself how an Obeya works and how to apply it.

The Obeya Fundamentals training by Lagant & VertX is suitable for anyone who wants to improve governance within their organization. The exam
By completing the Obeya Fundamentals training and passing the exam, you will be certified in Obeya Fundamentals by the Obeya Association. Upon certification, you can also receive a free one-year membership to the Obeya Association. (See also www.obeya-association.com)
The Obeya Association certificate is internationally recognized.
The online exam is a 60-minute Multiple Choice exam with 30 questions.
You pass if you answer 70% correctly.
