Introduction Praxis Framework ™ at BPUG 2018

Best Practice User Group or BPUG. This is a community for Best Practices in Project, Program and Portfolio Management (P3M). It is a user association for and by members who all have the same passion for the P3M field.

They have over 400 members and approximately 350 aspiring members. Their goals are: to organize an annual seminar, to organize lectures and workshops and to publish practical information and articles about our field on their website. For the 21st time this annual BPUG seminar was held in Utrecht.

Why is Praxis Framework ™ so interesting to me?

The purpose of our participation in the BPUG and workshops was to introduce visitors to the many elements of the Praxis model in a short time. Hopefully the participants themselves realized that Praxis could actually make a useful contribution for every organization and employee. We were delighted to be here and to be able to inform visitors about what concerns us in the field of project management.

Emma Jones, the expert in this field gave a presentation on this

Emma has the position of Professional Development and Accreditation at APMG and gave a substantive introduction to Praxis. Lagant then briefly talked about Praxis' Capability-Maturity model, and then divided the total group into subgroups of approximately 5-7 participants. Each subgroup was asked to focus on one of their organizations (eg one with an intuitively low maturity level).

Come and experience Praxis yourself, was the content of our workshop

Some of the groups then started working with the Praxis model to see which elements of Praxis they could use to improve the maturity of the chosen organization. A slightly smaller group did the same using Bob Marshall's 'Rightshifting' maturity model, and focused more on Agile working. Afterwards, the groups presented their learning points to each other, which turned out to be very valuable.

Lagant is the first training agency in the Netherlands to develop Praxis training material and provide training with it

We then spoke with a few participants at our booth. They found it very interesting and educational, especially given the time we had for it. Remi-Armand and Wil really enjoyed doing it. We had many more participants than expected. If you want to have a scoop yourself, sign up quickly for our Praxis training courses, which will start soon. these can of course be found on our website. Our basic training Praxis® Foundation training starts in September. If you want more information first, please contact us.
